Charlotte 2 Months

You are two months old! The time is just flying by. The past few weeks have been busy. You grow and change a little every day. Here's what you've been up to:
I had to leave you for the very first time and it was very difficult. On Tuesday August 18th I left you with your dad for about an hour and a half so I could go to my six week postpartum doctors visit. That was okay because it was quick and you were with dad. However, on Thursday the 20th I had to leave you for in-service training for work. I had to leave at 11 and didn't get home til 5:30 and it was hard. When I walked out the door at 11 I was crying and cried all the way to work. Once I got to the training I was okay. Your dad sent me pictures. He took you on a walk and gave you a bottle. Then he had to go to work so your Nana came, she was excited. I was so happy to come home that evening and hold you.
You've been a great sleeper at night. We successfully weaned you off the rock and play and now you are sleeping in the pack and play in our room. Before you would wake up screaming mad as soon as we laid you in the pack and play. But, towards the end of August you began to sleep in there and haven't looked back.
You've been super smiley and chatty. The first time you smiled at your dad he said he almost cried. It was sweet. He loves you so much. When he's at work he texts me and asks how you're doing and asks me to send photos. When he comes home from work he scoops you up right away. He is your favorite person to talk to. He talks to you and you smile and talk right back making a lot of different noises. You are definitely in the beginning stages of conversation and love it.
On August 14th you went to the gym for the very first time with us. Your daddy lifted while all the gym friends got to meet you. You slept almost the entire time, even with the incredibly loud music and weights banging. Afterwards we went to my friend's house and sat outside by a fire roasting s'mores. I can't wait to take you camping and roast marshmallows with you! You've been to the gym several times since and you always make us proud. You usually fall right asleep, but you're always content and let us workout.
You had your one month check up at the pediatrician when you were six weeks old. The doctor said you were doing great! You passed all your developmental milestones: grasping, looking at us when we talk to you, and responding to light. You were 22 inches long and 10 lbs! You also had to get your hepatitis A vaccine. It was a shot in your thigh. You screamed, turned bright red, and started sobbing. You were not happy, at all! Soon you will be going for your 2 month check up. I'm excited to see how much you've grown. I'm not excited for all the shots you will be getting. I might cry with you.
You are starting to get chunky and we love all your rolls. At six weeks you started wearing your cloth diapers and we're figuring out which ones fit you the best. You sure look cute in them!
We have just three weeks left together for my maternity leave. Then you and I will head to school. It's going to be a huge adjustment that I am not looking forward to. I wish I could stay home with you, but that isn't an option right now. I am trying to stay positive and remember all the good things about going back to work: you get to come with me, you have a great teacher, you will learn so much, and I will get to be around adults again. To prepare you for school I am working hard on getting you to take naps in your crib. Right now you want to be held all day and that won't work for school. I am aiming for at least one nap in your crib every day and we're doing pretty well.
At your two month check up at the pediatrician you weighed 11 pounds 7 ounces and were 23 inches long. You also got vaccines and that was traumatic. You were so upset, which made me upset! Then you were very sleepy for the next few days.
I am looking forward to the rest of my maternity leave with you and seeing how much you grow and learn over the next few weeks.
