I can hardly believe you are already a month old. I am still on maternity leave and loving all this time with you. It has been a great chance to bond with you and I have fallen completely in love with you. You and I are not on a strict schedule yet, but our days have fallen into a pattern. I typically wake up at 7:30, change your diaper and nurse you. Then you go back to sleep. Some days I go back to sleep too, other mornings I stay up. Then around 9:30 you wake up crying so I pick you up for your second feeding & diaper change. Now a days you have been super happy and awake during the mornings. I talk to you and you started cooing at me. Just today, August 13th, you gave me a smile for the very first time. Your dad and I were in your room playing and talking with you. I picked you up and talked to you and you gave me the cutest crooked smile. It was the absolute best. During the day you nurse every 2-3 hours and take little naps in between. You don't like to miss anything and fight sleep all day. You are usually very fussy and exhausted in the evening. However, you are sleeping great at night now. I feed you at 10 or 11 and you fall asleep. We put you in the rock & play bassinet next to my side of the bed and you sleep until your next feeding at 1. I nurse you until you fall asleep and then I put you back into the bassinet. You sleep until your next feeding, which I tend to wait longer for, around 4am. After that feeding you go back asleep until the 7:30 feeding.
You still have a feisty personality and temper. I'm not sure where you get that temper from. When you are unhappy or you want something you let us know by crying very loudly. Then you kick your legs and feet, snort, and grab at your face. Being held, rocked, and the pacifier are a winning combination for calming you down. I spend many hours of my day holding you on the couch while you drift in and out of sleep. As soon as your eyes start to shut you wake back up.
You still enjoy taking a bath but don't like getting out and being cold. Your hair is getting long and you have the cutest baby mullet. It's still dark brown but looks a little reddish in the sun. Your eyes are bluish grey and I am curious as to what color they will be permanently.
Your dad and I enjoy taking you everywhere with us. So far you've gone out to eat at Baughers twice with your Papaw, to Panera, Buffalo Wild Wings, Chic Fil A, and Three Hogs BBQ. You've been to Target countless times and I took you shopping with me to Kohls and Marshalls. We've also gone to the Farmers Markets. Lots of people stop to check you out and always comment on how small you are and your hair. We also go on walks around the neighborhood almost every day. You are always happy in the stroller or fall asleep. You like to be moving.
This week I packed up all your newborn sized clothes and brought out the 0-3 month/3 month sized clothing for you. You also started wearing size one diapers. This made me a little sad as you are already growing up and getting bigger. It happened so fast.
Your dad and I are so in love with you. You have made our lives more meaningful. I am so glad you here and we are your parents.
